Compensation Manager position - Los Angeles, California

Compensation Manager
Location: Greater Los Angeles Area, CA
Salary: Excellent & bonus

Reports to: VP of Compensation

This position manages compensation plans for the US market including, salary administration, wage analysis, development and communication of policies and guidelines. Conducts ongoing analysis and makes recommendations that ensure competitiveness in the market and adherence to corporate pay policies and practices for our client's U.S locations. Acts as a compensation consultant to HR and business partners. Assists in the preparation of compensation committee materials. Advises on base and variable compensation programs including performance management, merit increases, bonuses, project coordination, recognition programs, and any other incentive related programs. Participates in salary surveys and assists in the preparation of job descriptions. Influences, educates, and presents to management and employee groups. May occasionally participate in global compensation projects.

• Leads U.S. compensation-related projects including wage analysis, development and communication of policies and guidelines.
• Responsible for the management of the Global Compensation System (SuccessFactors). Administers established compensation programs including annual performance reviews, annual bonus, and other incentive related programs. Creates and distributes required documents to business units. Tracks, analyzes and reports on year over year merit and bonus budget. Creates annual salary budget forecasts for the U.S. based on plan funding. 
• Assists the VP, Global Compensation and Benefits in the preparation of compensation materials for the Compensation Committee of the Client's Board of Directors.
• Acts as point of contact on budgeted position expense approval. Coordinates U.S. position pricing with Finance for budgeting purposes. 
• Develops and maintains U.S. salary structure. Conducts market pricing, job slotting, and manages salary administration within the client's pay model.
• Maintains and runs periodic as well as ad-hoc reports on compensation related data from the HRIS system. Conducts periodic audits to ensure accuracy of data. Responds to data requests, uses Excel to manipulate data for analysis.
• Conducts periodic U.S. wage analysis to ensure market competitiveness on all compensation related programs.
• Respond to internal requests for review of existing jobs, pricing of new positions, reviewing requests for promotions, equity adjustments, ensuring internal and external equity. 
• Assists in the preparation of job descriptions. Reviews positions with departmental management periodically for compliance with FLSA regulations.
• Assists VP, Global Compensation and Benefits with on-going projects, maintains project timelines, creates presentations, communication materials, policies, etc.
• Assists with design, implementation, communication and administration of new incentive plans, recognition and rewards programs. Provides budget analysis, tracks and reports on status of on-going plan activity.
• Leads projects, makes presentations to groups, and has ability to manage multiple competing projects with shifting priorities. May occasionally participate in global compensation projects.
• Remains up-to-date on federal and state regulations by attending various seminars and informational meetings as it pertains to the job function. Educates management, employees and HR staff as necessary.

Skills/Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field 
• Minimum 10 years of professional level compensation experience in the design and administration of compensation programs, job leveling systems, salary survey participation and analysis, bonus design and administration, and merit design and administration.
• 5 years professional level experience related to executive compensation plan administration and equity administration.
• Experience advising management on FLSA exemption requirements as well as other federal and state statutes
• Exceptional Excel skills
• Exceptionally strong in mathematics skills
• Ability to analyze complex data and develop sound recommendations and solutions
• Strong presentation skills

Preferred
• MBA
• CCP certification from World at Work
• Experience managing data within an Oracle or PeopleSoft HRIS
• Working knowledge of SuccessFactors administration
• Second language (Spanish) a plus
• Assertive personality
